May’s Fresh Flowers | Stunning fragrant flowers delivered to Tumbulgum today!
Tumbulgum is a village situated southwest of Tweed Heads in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, in the local government area of Tweed Shire. Tumbulgum is in the state electorate of Tweed and the federal division of Richmond. Tumbulgum sits on the Tweed River, which forms its northern and western border. Stotts Channel and Stotts Island are found adjacent to Tumbulgum’s northeast. Tumbulgum is found between North Tumbulgum to the north and Eviron to the south.
Following the European settlement of Australia, Tumbulgum was initially the principal town in the Tweed Valley, especially during the 1880s. The town was the greater area’s commercial hub up until the construction of the railway to Lismore in 1897, which led to Murwillumbah supplanting the town as the Tweed’s hub.
Stotts Island and Stotts Island Nature Reserve are next to Tumbulgum’s northeastern boundary. This unique island on the Tweed River is a haven for flora and fauna. Tumbulgum’s built-up area is primarily based in the northwest, at a bend in the Tweed River. The greater part of Tumbulgum though, is agricultural land.
