History
Currumbin is a word from the Bundjalung language meaning high or high trees. Currumbin Waters was originally the name of a real estate development. Coolangatta Special School opened in 1979 in Coolangatta, in 2006 the school relocated to Currumbin Waters and was renamed Currumbin Community Special School.
