May’s Fresh Flowers | Stunning fragrant flowers delivered to Fingal Head today!
Fingal Head is a village situated southeast of Tweed Heads in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, in the local government area of Tweed Shire. Fingal Head is a long narrow strip of land extending from Kingscliff in the south to the opening of the Tweed River opposite Tweed Heads in the north. Fingal Head is found between Tweed Heads South to the west and the Tasman Sea to the east.
Fingal Head was named by Surveyor Robert Dixon, who mapped the coastal areas between Brisbane and the Brunswick River in 1840. It is believed to have been named after Fingal’s Cave on the island of Staffa in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland owing to a similar appearance from its naturally formed Columnar Basalt outcrops. The local Aboriginal people were the Minjungbal. Fingal Head Post Office opened in 1912.
Fingal Head Lighthouse is found in Fingal Head’s coastal centre, in between Fingal Head Beach and Dreamtime Beach. Cook Island and Mary’s Rock are found a few hundred metres out to sea.
