May’s Fresh Flowers | Stunning fragrant flowers delivered to Pottsville today!
Pottsville is a town situated west of Tweed Heads in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, in the local government area of Tweed Shire. Pottsville is in the state electorate of Tweed and the federal division of Richmond. Pottsville features two beaches: Pottsville Beach in its south, and a part of Cudgera Beach in its north. The two beaches are separated by Mooball Creek.
Pottsville was originally a tea tree swamp. Following the European settlement of Australia, Bill Potts owned the first home in the Pottsville surroundings in 1930 and the area was initially known as Potts Point. In the coming years, the town was renamed Pottsville to avoid confusion with the suburb of Potts Point in Sydney.
Pottsville Beach, in the town’s south, is separated from the town by Mooball Creek, which runs behind it and enters from the ocean separating Pottsville Beach from Cudgera Beach in the north. Two bridges provide access to the strip of land behind the beach: Tweed Coast Road and Black Rocks Bridge. Pottsville’s built up areas are by the beach, in its centre and in a small pocket in the town’s north. The developed areas are surrounded by native bushland.
