Elanora is a suburb situated 21 kilometres south of the Gold Coast’s Surfers Paradise, in the local government area of the City of Gold Coast. Elanora enjoys proximity to Palm Beach, as well as Coolangatta and Tweed Heads. Tallebudgera Creek is the suburb’s northwestern border. Elanora is found between Burleigh Heads to the north and Tallebudgera to the south.
Elanora is an Aboriginal word meaning “home by the sea”. The name was originally used for a train station on the South Coast Rail Line. Elanora Post Office opened in 1927. Elanora State School and Elanora State High School opened in 1983 and 1990 respectively.
The Pines Elanora is a large shopping centre found in the suburb’s southeastern corner near Currumbin Creek. Palm Beach is found not far from Elanora’s eastern border. Tallebudgera Creek and Little Talle Lake are found in the suburb’s north, while Pine Lake, off Currumbin Creek, is found in the east next to The Pines Elanora..
