Foredunes up to 16 metres high existed in the area from 1947 to 1962 but had reduced to six to nine metres high by 1977. Hastings Point is found between Bogangar to the north and Pottsville to the south.
At the 2011 census, Hastings Point had a median age of 62 years, 25 years above Australia’s median age of 37. Like many surrounding Towns, Hastings Point is popular with retirees thanks to its warm weather and pleasant beachside lifestyle.
Hastings Point Lookout is situated on Hastings Point, between Hastings Point Beach to the north and Cudgera Beach to the south. Near this lookout and next to the Hastings Point Foreshore is the opening to Cudgera Creek. Most of the town’s built up streets are concentrated in its north.
